How running has helped Carla in her everyday life

Back in October of 2019, Special Olympics Arizona athlete Carla Simon achieved a dream goal, qualifying for the 2021 Boston Marathon in April. Despite Boston being postponed and then eventually cancelled, Carla ran her own virtual Boston marathon in her neighborhood – and through social media was surprised with a 1996 Boston Marathon from a runner who saw Carla’s story online.

Fox 10’s Siera Santos caught up with Carla last week to talk about running, her participation in Special Olympics Arizona and what Special Olympics means to her.
