Phoenix Suns Rise in Style event
The Phoenix Suns Rise in Style event was such a wonderful and new experience for not only Special Olympics Arizona, but for so many other people and organizations. The event was cohosted by two members of the ‘Valley Boyz’, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Deandre Ayton. Yet so many other Suns players and staff were there in support and also participating in the mini parade going up and down the cat walk, including star guard Devin Booker!
Special Olympics Arizona was lucky enough to have an incredible representative modeling for us. SOAZ athlete Marcus Hodges was paired with Booker and the two strutted their stuff on the catwalk and had a blast! Marcus’ confidence and exuberant energy were on full display, and he put on a performance we won’t forget, as did Booker and the rest of his teammates. It’s a night that Marcus will remember forever. Booker also has his own charitable foundation that benefits five nonprofit organizations, and he chose SOAZ as one of them just last month. ‘Book’ has always been an inspiration in the way he gives back to the community, but that night he helped make some of Marcus’ big dreams come true.
From the athletes, staff and volunteers we could not be more grateful for the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Suns Charities and all of the Suns players for this magical night and for supporting Special Olympics Arizona. GO SUNS!
