Ronny Jones, Hannah Stewart to Represent SOAZ at National Down Syndrome Adult Summit – Tuesday, May 12

Presentation focuses on empowering athletes

Special Olympics Arizona’s very own Ronny Jones and Hannah Stewart will be presenting at the virtual National Down Syndrome Society Adult Summit today (May 12th).

Ronny and Hannah’s presentation, titled “Empowering Athletes,” will discuss how participation in Special Olympics programming helps athletes succeed on and off of the field!

The 2020 NDSS Virtual Adult Summit is open to all individuals who play any role in the life of individuals who have Down syndrome or are within the IDD community with a specific focus on caregivers, family members, professionals, and individuals with Down syndrome. Our Virtual Summit will take place on various dates and times throughout May.

This Virtual Summit will cover important and critical topics for all adults with Down syndrome and IDD. Speakers and topics will align with NDSS’ comprehensive programs and pillars – including healthcare, research, inclusive education, community integration, caregiving, economic self-sufficiency, aging-related health issues and employment.

Ronny, an SOAZ athlete who also is currently on the Special Olympics Arizona staff, will share his life story and describe how the Special Olympics program has played a positive role in his personal achievements and growth.

Ronny and Hannah also will discuss the Health and Athlete Leadership program at SOAZ, and how anyone can get involved in Special Olympics Arizona’s programs as an athlete, parent, professional, or volunteer.

Ronny and Hannah’s “Empowering Athletes” is scheduled for 12 – 1:15 p.m. Arizona time today.
