Volunteers are the backbone of the Special Olympics movement. They are coaches, trainers, officials, event organizers, fundraisers, and event volunteers. They can also be unified partners playing alongside athletes with intellectual disabilities or fans cheering in the stands.

Rewarding for All

For those looking to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of other members of their community, the volunteer opportunities at SOAZ are diverse and rewarding. From short-term commitments like a one-day event to long-term involvement working to plan and execute multiple different community events, each role plays a critical part in helping our athletes realize their potential. Whether you have an afternoon to give or you’re interested in a more permanent role, there’s a place for you within the SOAZ volunteer family.

Our volunteers come from all backgrounds and represent all age groups, from children eager to lend a hand to adults and seniors who bring years of experience. Every volunteer brings something unique to the table, and together they form the backbone of SOAZ’s success. We are deeply grateful for the time, energy, and passion that the Globe volunteers bring to each event. Their acts of kindness and generosity make a world of difference for our athletes and contribute to building a more compassionate and understanding community.

At the heart of Special Olympics Arizona lies a deep commitment to changing lives. This mission is not only carried out by our athletes and staff but also by our volunteers, who dedicate their time and energy to ensuring that everyone feels included and supported. Volunteers embody the values of teamwork and generosity, and their dedication helps make Globe a more inclusive and compassionate place for people of all abilities.

The selflessness of our volunteers extends beyond the events they participate in. All Ages, All Interests

One of the most exciting aspects of Special Olympics Arizona is the growing number of teenage volunteers who are stepping up to make a difference. Seeing young people contribute their time, talents, and ideas to our events is incredibly inspiring, and we are thrilled to embrace the enthusiasm and creativity they bring to SOAZ.

Teens are encouraged to volunteer independently or as part of a school group, both of which offer unique and fulfilling experiences. Whether you choose to volunteer with friends or join us on your own, you’ll have the chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of our athletes. The energy and passion of our younger volunteers in Globe are unmatched, and their involvement is crucial to shaping the future of Special Olympics Arizona.
