Join SOAZ and medical students for a day of community inclusion! Activities include Unified sports, health education, and free dental screenings! This event is open to athletes and their support systems and will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12 (9 – 12 p.m.) at Daley Park in Tempe.

Community Days are events designed by a Unified Committee (Athletes/ Medical Students) to engage our communities and spread awareness of Inclusive Health Practices.

These days begin with our “Lead the Field Program”
Lead the Field gives medical students a first-hand experience with vulnerable populations while simultaneously giving SOAZ athletes the opportunity to share their personal health stories. Through pairing based on common interests and geographical location, athletes and medical students meet monthly, online or in person, to discuss pre-determined health-related topics. While health-related conversations are the foundation for Lead the Field meetings, the goal of the program is for athletes and medical students to learn from each other, have meaningful inclusion, and create long-lasting friendships.

Medical students will be playing many different roles at Community Days.

  • Meeting their Lead the Field Partner
  • Spreading Health Education
  • Practice engagement with Individuals with disabilities
  • Having fun with our Athletes

Dental Students will be hosting “Special Smiles Screenings” from 9AM to 11AM

  • Dental students will be providing dental screenings and dental education
